Kickstarted

Success!

The blog has been away for a while, and there’s no other way to come back than to state the obvious. Kickstarter worked werked. Really, really well. The funding the Boiler got on there was just tremendous. All kinds of people – like Treehugger (!) – have been saying really nice things about the Boiler. The coolest part of the whole experience was getting to talk to and meet a bunch more people who somehow connect to this intersection of design, manufacturing, and the outdoors.

I’ve been posting updates on how the whole process has been going to the Kickstarter project page and will continue to. But, so as to not repeat myself, I won’t be re-posting those updates here. Instead, I hope there to be more interesting fodder – like how I made that prototype stopper. Later this week.

But in the meantime, there is at least one good reason (actually there are a ton) to go back and check out Kickstarter. Hendrik Morkel of Hiking in Finland is looking to undertake an immense project – to create a comprehensive video primer on ultralight backpacking. Literally, Ultralight A-Z. I’ve been acting as his US connection (required to start a Kickstarter project) and have hopefully been giving him some useful advice on how to run a successful campaign, but all the funds raised go to Hendrik. So help a Finn out. Learn how to lighten your load. Back his project. :)
