Where they’re going

by Devin on November 16, 2010

All the places the boilers are going so far. Larger circles indicate more boilers to that state, providence, or country. I hope to post the interactive javascript visualization here if I can ever get it working*.

This is really exciting – the orders have been flying in from all over the world. It’s hard to believe they just opened up on Friday night! As you can see, I’m getting big love from Washington and California. And apparently, much like my favorite strategy in Risk, the Backcountry Boiler will start its path to world domination in North America. Then proceed to South America, then Africa, then Europe. Asia is always hard, and if I can, I’d really like to keep control of Australia for the two troops per turn it offers. Never underestimate the power of a large force embedded on Indonesia.

My apologies to anyone who hasn’t spent a long weekend arguing over this particular board game.

*Does anybody know how to do this? I’m running Thesis on WordPress and I’ve tried the custom field and javascript boxes, I’ve even tried a plugin allowing shortcode for custom fields. I’m getting nothing. I also imagine I need to do some kind of javascript caching so it doesn’t take too long to load, but I don’t really know what that means. :)

Thanks, Adam. :) I’m getting love from Texas, too. 3 orders I think. I really need to figure out how to make that map interactive. I’ll post a new one when all the orders are in. Maybe I’ll have the time to figure it out by then. Computers are hard!

More love coming your way from Seattle- Hoping we can crush California with a MONSTER CIRCLE!!! Can’t WAIT for the kettle- thanks Devin for making this the most fun $100 I’ve spent in a long, long time.

Oh snap! Did you hear that California? Thanks Doug!

Looking at the map, it looks like we Nevadans have been annexed by California.

Hey dude, ill admit, due to my results of a past experience with a DIY wood burning stove I have not been to interested in them. But watching your video has altered that thought process, at least a little. The Backcountry Boiler is pretty neat. Great job.
I would enjoy trying one out but I am afraid that I will have to wait a little while. However, I did put a post on my blog to help you spread the word. Hope it works out for you man, and hopefully I can try one down the road.

Devin:

NYC chiming in here. I just ordered one up! I actually heard about your boiler from Stick’s blog.

Good luck to you!

Thanks Mike! And thanks for spreading the word, Chad! I checked out your blog and it’s a good looking site. Between what you have there and on backpackgeartest.org, you have a lot of experience with gear. I’m glad that I may have renewed your interest in wood burners – it is handy to have all the soot on the inside.
