I love .png format. See how good that looks even blown up?
I, like many of you, am getting ready for some turkey-inspired gluttony and sloth, but I wanted to send out a quick update.
As I’ve said before, I’ll be updating the blog here regularly until the Boilers are shipped (at least a couple times a week, more often when things pick up) but I’ve also replaced the “Pre-order Status” bar with the “First Run Progress” bar that you see to your right. That way, you can see at a glance how close we are to S[hipping]-day based on some production benchmarks. Just like installation progress bars on your Mac or PC, it may stick at certain stages and shoot up at others, but it will get there.
Right now, we’re at stage two: the spinning shop is working on a sample for me to approve. Not much progress on that is going to be made until after the holiday, but I’m not going to rush it. Once the sample is made to spec, it’s not too hard for the shop to make 100 more just like it. But getting that sample right sure is important. Measure twice, cut once.

Hey Devin!
I can show you an easy way to make the progress bar in HTML, so you don’t have to regenerate the image each time.

Hey Holmes!
Thanks – I am using the ProgPress plugin to generate the bar itself, the .png was just the screen capture I used to blow it up for the post image. My caption was confusing. I may try to pick your brain later about how to run java in WordPress posts.
You should have included a link to FriendFit (I added it for you :) ) – for others reading this, Leo is one of my best friends and he and his wife are the brains behind FriendFit.com. It’s a fitness tracking social network. You can track just about any activity and use it to share, meet up with others, etc. Among other things, it includes a really clever use of the Google Maps API that allows you to plot and calculate distances for running, biking or HIKING routes. I’ve actually used that tool for rowing routes in the Chesapeake, too. Anyway, I’m obviously a fan.
